TRUST IN GOD ALONE

Jeremiah 17:5-10

 Cursed is the man who:

  • Turns away from God-do own things than what the word of God commands- The bible says in Galatians 5:19-21 about acts of the flesh which are:
  • Sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery-includes-(bodily pleasure like drugs, alcohol, sex), idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, discord-(spreading rumors or gossip) , jealousy, fits of rage-(Anger that cannot be controlled), selfish ambition, dissensions-(arguments, disagreements, quarrels), factions, envy, drunkenness, orgies-(activities that includes sexual activities and drinking), and other activities like those.
  • Who draws strength from flesh instead of God-e.g. popularity, money, education, job titles etc.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the lord because he/she is:

Like a tree planted by the waterside.  It is ever green. If we trust in the lord we shall have joy, peace, victory, and everything we need in life.

  • We shall not fear when challenges come in our lives.
  • We shall not worry in the year of drought
  • We shall never fails to bear fruits for Christ

The heart is deceitful above all things:

  • It make us think we can succeed by own strength
  • It make us think we can do without God
  • It make us thing what we have is enough for us than God

God searches the heart and examines the mind –He sees our motives and plans

God rewards each person according to their deeds

In whatever we do, we shall be rewarded.  Therefore, we need to do it well and for God’s glory.

May God help us to trust in Him and to obey His commandments and not to lean on our own understanding or things we have in this life.

God bless you for reading!

WORD OF GOD

Reading Matthew 13: 1-9, 18-23

For people to understand, Jesus used parables when he talked to the people.  In Matthew chapter 13, Jesus talked about the parable of the sower who went to sow seeds  in the farm and the seeds fell in different places. In this parable, Jesus mentioned four types of people that hear the word of God but receive it differently:

  • People who hear the word of God but the devil comes and steals it from their hearts
  • People who hear the word of God and receive it with joy, but when trouble comes, they fall away
  • People who hear the word of God but the pleasures of this world destroys it and they don’t bear fruits
  • People who hear the word of God, obey it, and bear fruits for the Lord

As Christians, we need to ask ourselves, which category do we belong to? Are we like those seeds that fell on the roadside or on the rocks, where things of this world destroy it or are we like those seeds that fell on good soil? The word of God is encouraging us to be readers and doers of the word of God.

Lesson:

  • As Christians, we need to study the word of God and obey it
  • We need to bear fruits by telling others about Christ
  • We need to dwell in prayer so the devil will not steal what God has put in our hearts
  • We have to stand in faith even when temptations come

May God help us to study and obey His word.

God bless you as you continue to seek Him.

PRAYERS

Reading: Acts 12:1-17 (NIV)

Prayer is a weapon for Christians.  Prayers help a Christian to defeat Satan and temptations.  When you read Acts 12:1-17, the bible talks about how King Herod was arresting Christians to persecute them.  James, brother to John was killed and Peter was put in prison.  Peter was put in prison without any fault. He was guarded by four squads of four soldiers to prevent him from escaping  from prison. The church prayed earnestly for Peter and the night before Peter was brought in trial, the angel of the Lord rescued him.  The doors of prison were opened, the soldiers did not hear when Peter left prison, and all the chains that bound Peter were broken and he was set free.

Lesson:

When we pray to God, He will deliver us from all troubles and temptations.  It does not matter which prison the devil has put us, the chains that are bounding us, or how many enemies are against us to destroy us, if we pray, God will hear our cry.

The church prayed for Peter and God heard their prayers.  If we pray for for ourselves, our families, neighbors, friends, and our nations, God will hear us.  Maybe Peter could have been killed like James but through prayers, he was rescued.

There is no problem or temptation that is bigger than our God.  Let us take all our problems to God in prayer and He will rescue us.  May God help us and give us strength to pray without ceasing.

God bless you.

HOT OR COLD

Reading: Revelation 3:14-22 (NIV)

God looked at the church in Laodicea and said that he knew their deeds.  The Christians in this church were neither hot nor cold.
God said that the church was wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.

The church was wretched because it was not doing the will of God.  Maybe the Christians in that church were doing the worldly things that did not please God and tried to please God at the same time. Also, Christians in that church were contented because of whom they were and what they had but, they needed God’s help. The church had acquired wealth and everything they needed in life but they were poor spiritually. In addition, Christians in that church were blind because they could not realize they were not pleasing God-they were pleasing the world and at the same time trying to please God. As a result, the church did not have the clothe of God’s Glory because the Glory of God does not dwell where flesh and blood rules.

Lesson to us:
As Christians today, God is telling us that we should be either hot or cold. We should be on God’s side or Devil’s side but we cannot be in between-pleasing God sometimes and pleasing the devil other times.
Wretched-As Christians, we can be wretched by what is surrounding us and we need to be careful of what we do, where we go, and whom we associate with because what we feed our spirits can wretch us and prevent  us from doing the will of God.
Pitiful: We need God’s grace every day. We cannot do anything without Him.
Poor: Without Jesus, we are poor.  We can own everything in this world-money, good jobs, silver, gold, etc. but without Jesus, we will lose our souls and eternal life forever.
Blind: Without Jesus, the devil make us blind and we cannot see God’s goodness or realize the snares of Satan.
Naked: Without Jesus in our hearts, we are naked.  We are vulnerable to Satan’s attacks and defeats because we don’t have God’s protection.
What do we need to do?
  • We should turn to God fully.  We should live for God alone.
  • We should repent our sins and accept Jesus as our Lord and savior
  • We should invite God in all what we do in this life so that we can live and do things according to His will not ours.

God bless you.
